Thai Panang Curry or known by the local as "Panang" is made of a type of red Thai curry that is thick, salty and sweet, with a nutty peanut flavor. The curry paste itself is made with dried chili peppers, galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime zest, coriander root, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, garlic, shallot, shrimp paste, salt and peanuts.
In Panang, beef, chicken or pork could be added, eaten along with a plate of steamed rice.
