Braised pork leg on steamed rice

Khao Kha Moo ข้าวขาหมู

Original name

Khao Kha Moo ข้าวขาหมู
Braised Pork Leg on Stream Rice or known by the local as "Khao Kha Moo" is one of the standard Thai street food dishes. It is basically a stewed pork leg on top of stream rice. The Kha Moo itself is basically Thai braised pork leg surrounded by tons of succulent meat, with a thick layer of skin surrounding it. Its taste is more likely sweet and mild with a pleasant aroma of star anise, along with an arsenal of Chinese herbs and spices that is absorbed into the braised juice.

Khao Kha Moo is usually served with some pickled braised mustard greens on the side, plus a handful of fresh cilantro to garnish.
