A spread thin and tasty, with almond paste, honey and argan oil. It is the local Nutella!
Almonds are roasted and then ground with a special stone (for extremely fine dough). We add argan oil and honey to sweeten the mixture. It is this paste which is called Amlou. This is the specialty of the region of Essaouira, Agadir (Souss-Massa-daraa) the only region where argan trees grow.
It is simply used with bread or as an accompaniment to all kinds of cakes and crepes.
